Focus
Join us for a mission trip that combines cross-cultural training and experiences with Gospel-sowing among unreached people groups in NYC!
The training program is designed to grow a vision in high schoolers for reaching the nations with the Gospel. Participants learn about God’s heart for the unreached, receive basic training in cross-cultural evangelism techniques, and go into local communities to seek “People of Peace” who are open to studying the Bible or learning more about Jesus. By becoming more comfortable in sharing the Gospel among the unreached people groups of New York City, participants leave with a strong foundation to share the Gospel in their communities. This trip will have opportunities to:
- Engage in street conversations.
- Welcome and engage multiple unreached cultures.
- Learn and grow in sharing the Gospel relationally.
Trip Schedule
A typical outreach day will include morning training and prayer, followed by lunch, and afternoon or evening evangelism. Due to the nature of missions, scheduled activities may be adjusted as various ministry opportunities arise.Sample Daily Schedule:
- Breakfast at the housing dorm
- Training
- Lunch
- Neighborhood Ministry
- Dinner
- Team debrief
Logistics
The team will fly into NYC and stay at a local ministry center that is specifically used for housing mission teams. Rooms will be gender-specific. Team members will walk a lot and also take public transportation (subways or buses) to get around the city. The team will always be in groups and accompanied by an adult leader. Students will always travel in groups with an adult leader.
Trip Leaders
Trip Leaders may be staff members, parents, or student small group leaders. If you are a parent and would like to serve as an adult leader on this trip, please complete an application as well. We will then reach out with the next steps to proceed through the interview process. There will be four adult leaders on this trip.
Trip Trainings
Our goal is to send teams that are a blessing to our partners, which means sending a team that is fully prepared upon arrival at their destination. We require all team members to complete four mandatory trainings before the trip. These sessions will help you grow as a disciple of Jesus, get to know your team, prepare for your time in the field, and gain a deeper understanding of your role in the Great Commission. The dates are listed below in the Meeting section. Missing more than one training is grounds for removal from the team.
Support Raising
All trip participants are encouraged to raise support for their trip. It is an opportunity to see how God provides. Global Outreach will be hosting an optional in-person support-raising training on March 1st from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. We will also provide you with a support-raising packet to help walk you through the process.
Financial Information
- The cost of the trip includes travel, trip insurance, transportation, supplies, lodging, and meals for the duration of the trip. The cost does not include souvenirs and recreational excursions.
- IRS Guidelines - For contributions to be tax-deductible, the church must have ultimate control/discretion over how the money is spent. This means that any financial gift received for a trip is non-refundable.
- Any trip participant who has to drop out of the trip for any reason is required to cover all trip expenses incurred by the church on their behalf.
