Focus

This team will love and befriend refugee kids living in inner-city Dallas by helping provide a day camp experience, participating in camp activities with the kids, and initiating spiritual conversations to help them draw closer to Jesus. During the day, team members will be assigned to a crew to serve (camp activity, kitchen, younger kids, support, etc.), build relationships, model Christ, and minister to the refugee kids. In the evenings, time is devoted to fellowship and the spiritual development of our team members.

This trip will have opportunities for:
  • Serve sacrificially
  • Impact multiple nations
  • Lead in a camp experience

Logistics

The team will drive in vans to Kaufman and be housed at the camp in dorms. Rooms will be same genered. The team will be assigned different roles at the camp for the week. The team will be at the camp for the week and have all meals on-site.

Trip Leader

Being a short-term mission trip leader is a rewarding experience. As a trip leader, you get to encourage your trip members in their individual walks with Jesus; create and facilitate relationships that can change people’s lives; plant seeds of faith; see people cared for, prayed for, saved, and baptized; and witness disciples being made. Learn more about what it means to be a Team Leader here. If you are interested in being a trip leader, you apply through the application and select "Yes" on the "Trip Leader" question. A Global Outreach team member will reach out to help walk you through the process.

Trip Trainings

Our goal is to send teams that are a blessing to our partners which means sending a team that is fully prepared when they reach their destination. To ensure our teams are ready, we have teams go through four mandatory trainings. Trainings are designed to help each participant grow as a disciple of Jesus, be fully prepared for your time on the field, get to know your team before travel, and identify your role in fulfilling the Great Commission even after the trip is over. There will be 4 mandatory trainings before the trip. The dates will be listed in your Service Reef profile under meetings once your application is approved. Trainings are normally held on Sunday afternoons. If you have to miss a training because of a prior commitment or illness, you will need to connect with your Team Leader to review all the material you missed. Missing more than one training is grounds for removal from the team.

Support Raising

All trip participants are encouraged to support raise for their trip. It is an opportunity to see how God provides. Global Outreach will be doing an in-person support-raising training on March 2nd, 2:30pm-4:30pm. We will also provide you with a support-raising packet to help walk you through the process.

Financial Information

  • The cost of the trip includes travel, transportation, partner fees, supplies, lodging, and meals for the duration of the trip. The only thing it doesn't include is souvenirs and recreational excursions.
  • IRS Guidelines - For contributions to be tax deductible, the church must have ultimate control/discretion as to how the money is spent. This means that any financial gift received for a trip is non-refundable.
  • Any trip participant who has to drop out of the trip for any reason is required to cover all trip expenses incurred by the church on their behalf.
